타인을 통해서 판단되어지는 나 자신과 고유한 나 자신의 간극은 어떻게 발생되는가?
연작의 좌측 사진들은 인물 스스로 자신이 작가로부터 촬영되고 있음을 알고 있다. 이 때, 인물은 스스로 자신이기를 바라는 모습으로써 나타 내려고 한다. 반면에, 연작의 우측 사진들은 동일한 장소에서 시간차를 두고 촬영되었으며, 촬영자의 부재를 알린다. 그로 인하여 인물은 자기 망각 효과에 놓이게 된다.
두 사진은 인물의 의식적 시각과 무의식적 시각을 대조함으로써 정체성과 그 정체성을 정의하는 방식에 대해 질문한다.
